A WikiBadge marks a page for a specific kind of editorial attention. From the page of a particular WikiBadge, click on What links here (in the toolbox on the lower left) to get a list of all pages needing such attention. These are the backlinks, all the pages that link to the page, through being marked with the WikiBadge.
WikiBadges work by harnessing the ability of wiki software to create functional emergent categories.

NoteToSelf: Musing: FigureMeOut!
The MediaWiki engine, by introducing special "Cateogry" tags and syntax, inserts a break between thematic clusters emerging from the forward- and backlinks of a wiki, and those intentionally introduced as categories. [Is this really so different from the CategoryCategories of most wiki engines?] For example, clicking on What links here on this page brings up only those pages linking to this page outside of a category tag, for some reason, and not those tagged with the category WikiBadge. What's that about? I don't get it!
